About Keringa

Keringa International was established in 1973 – 40 years ago – as simple Keringa Kennels, by Norman Friedmann, who is still at the helm of what has become the most comprehensive pet services group in South Africa – and arguably the largest, with almost 60 members of staff. He entered this industry after qualifying as a dog trainer, turning a hobby into a passion for excellence, and having always had a deep respect and love for animals, with strong interests in nature, the outdoors, conservation and wildlife. (The name Keringa is an acronym of his three daughters, KERith, INGrid and YolAn.

Between all our staff we have over 300 years of combined experience in our specialist fields.

This highly professional organisation is dedicated to the caring of animals and is run on modern business methods. Keringa has the highest pets-to-people ratio of any pet services organisation known to us, this means that your pets could receive more human interaction and care than at any comparable organisation, such as a one-man-kennel.

We have our own in-house accounting, marketing, desktop publishing, computer reservations and maintenance including estate landscaping, pet travel and pet emigration departments. We also have our own carpentry workshop that manufactures pet travel boxes to United Nations IPPC and IATA specifications. With over 20 state-of-the-art computers and servers, we employ cutting edge technology, which includes information such as a database of all pets that we have handled.
